<lj:music>Cellphone's Dead - Beck</lj:music>

UGGGGHHH....I have to go to work for 4 hours driving through a foot of snow and ice. I'm not looking forward to this. I mean, it was nice to have the day off when tiny ice pellets are pelting, but it didn't go away. F and MK, though, still get to stay home.

I downloaded PHP and MySQL. Now I need to figure out how to program it to run my web site.

<lj:music>All The Love In The World - Nine Inch Nails</lj:music>

So--multiple tours, a concert DVD in Feb, and now this. TR's been a busy, busy guy.

Unlike me, who has been an absolute slug this weekend. Racing season has started *groan*, and there was yet another MythBusters marathon yesterday. Blah.

Meanwhile, I spent most of last week trying to get my second paycheck straightened out. It means my bills will be late, but at least they'll be paid. We managed to scrape enough together so MK had a good B-day--she now has a new mountain bike so she can keep up with us when we start peddling this spring. F also got her a stereo, which she wasn't as keen about. (F, welcome to parenthood.)

Spring, however, is a very long way away. We're expecting a foot of snow starting tonight with ice later tomorrow. I might actually get to stay home. F was home all last week and MK missed three days of school, yet I still had to slog through the snow and ice.

    <lj:music>Satisfaction (I Can't Get No) - Devo</lj:music>

[points to song]
This should be the official song of anyone who is upgrading to Windows Vista.
[/pointing]

I mean, nice GUI but not a heck of a lot else. I turned off the gadgets as soon as possible. F is happy--but then again, he doesn't have a Mac. (I never use the Widgets in OS X 10.4, either.) Thank goodness for the KVM switch or else I'd never get anything done!

Well, made it through tax time with less taken out of my hide than I was expecting. MK may have a decent birthday after all. Meanwhile, she had a full bout of "two exits, no waiting" this morning and recuperated enough to hit up the neighbors for charity this afternoon. Not me, though...I have had a Gates-inspired migraine all day.

    <lj:music>Never Get Old - David Bowie</lj:music>

Last night I watched a rerun of the MB "submerged car" episode. I managed to suppress the "It's worse than that, he's dead Jamie" comment--until now.

After that I saw The Hawking Paradox. I don't know if Stephen Hawking is right or even close, but it takes some serious intestinal fortitude to present a theory that would have to take some Doctor Who-style technology to objectively prove. The updated theory (as of 2004) is this, basically: instead of information being lost forever in a black hole (and thus causing parts of the universe, history, time to disappear), In the show Hawking brings up the use of parallel universes (sounds like Schrœdinger's wave theory) and on the Web site he considers quantum fluctuations on the surface of the black hole (from Heisenberg's uncertainty principle), allowing information to escape and not be sucked into nothingness. I know most people could care less and a few would consider it old news, but it's cool to me.

Still have no idea on why the two extra pixels show up on my Web pages, though I suspect it has to do with the yucky GeoCities host. The main thing is I can preview it locally just fine, but once I upload it--there they are. So--I'll have to look elsewhere.

Okay, enough geekiness--need to make dinner.

    <lj:music>Crystal Wrists - Peter Murphy</lj:music>

Duh! It's Ohio, it's wintertime, and it's about time for a big snowstorm!

F (as in Fiance) has informed me that more men are out shopping than women. I decided not to tell him that most women are typically smarter not to venture in adverse driving conditions when they can send a willing male with a 4-wheel drive truck to the store. (Especially when said male wants beer for the NFL playoffs anyway.)

While F was out conquering Mother Nature, I ordered the 1996 DW movie from here and the new DW Season 2 from Best Buy. (I'll pick the latter up when the weather's better later this week.) This plusses up my section of the DVD collection nicely, since we bought the entire Season 1 of both MythBusters and Dirty Jobs in Cincinnati yesterday.

In the meantime, I worked on adding pictures to Angelic Muse and threw HBP against the wall. (Well, maybe not the latter, but--JKR: Am. Very. Disappointed. So is MK.)

Nothing better to start off a week than a cat stuck in a closet overnight. Of course, if it wasn't for Smokey's housemate Kabara torturing him from the side of freedom I wouldn't have known. What was funny was as soon as I let him out, he was trying to go back in! Silly cat. Fortunately he didn't leave any deposits on the carpet.

I'm starting a new job today. I worked as a contractor for nine months, but I don't like the fact that my livelihood would be here today and gone next year--especially with car payments, mortgage, etc. hanging over my head. So--I'm returning to Government servitude, although I still have to pick my clothes in the morning. Yay.

Thanks to those who friended me back!

Yeah, yeah...it's been about three years, two moves, one retirement, two jobs, one jealous fiance, blah blah blah...but I'm back.

I'm now in Dayton OH, the center of ultra-get-away-from-here-ness. Why? Because I'm one of the few who can actually get a job here, and the muckety-mucks in DC couldn't offer me a job that didn't involve either massive butt-kissing or shiftwork. Go figure.

Why am I back? I miss all the friends I had. I found my old HP and DW fanfic while reloading my PowerMac G5 and decided to see if anyone is still kicking around.

So if you still remember me as the username minus the one, Friend me, dangit! In the meantime, I need to remember how to set all this crap up from three years, two moves, etc. ago.
